Featured Resource Presentation: Encouraging Culture Change with Decision Makers through Play with Suzi Farrant
Fee: $15 (free for cohort members), includes access to the live presentation and facilitated discussion AND a recording of the resource presentation, available to share with your context and network
ABOUT THE RESOURCE PRESENTATION:
In order to foster lasting cultural change in churches their decision makers need to be on board and an integral part of the change process. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that when it comes to intergenerational church many decision makers aren't readily willing to come to the table, leaving the work to those directly involved in ministry with children and young people. Suzi Farrant shares the story of the creation of a discussion-based game designed to get decision makers engaging with concepts of intergenerational church in a bid to better foster lasting culture change. Through playing the game participants are invited to consider together a variety of practices to bring the generations back together. Stories will also be shared about how the game has been successfully used in a variety of contexts across the UK and internationally.
ABOUT OUR PRESENTER:
Suzi Farrant has just begun training for ordination in the full-time ministry of word and sacrament in the Church of Scotland. For the last 13 years she was the Young People and Young Adults Development Worker for the Church of Scotland, advocating at a national level for culture shift within the church such that children and young people are intentionally included. Prior to that she spent 9 years pioneering fresh approaches to youth ministry in local congregations. She holds a Master of Theology degree from the University of Aberdeen, where her thesis was on Bonhoeffer and intergenerational church-community. Her book, Being an Intergenerational Church: Practices to bring the generations back together, co-authored with Darren Phillip was published in 2023.

On the odd months, cohorts meet virtually for resource sharing, problem-solving, accountibility, and prayer. On even months, all cohort members are welcome to register and attend for free the InterGenerate Online Gatherings (see more info above).
