Generational Theory & Faith Communities
A Boomer sent an email calling a meeting at the church at 7:00 p.m. next Wednesday.  The responses came back:  “Hey, can we Skype this one?” “Wait, what?” and “Sorry, I missed the meeting.  I don’t check my email.”  Doing church with multiple generations in leadership can be a challenge, but can also bring richness and depth.  This presentation will explore the expectations, needs and gifts of each generation and offer insight on ways to work together.

Lynn Barger Elliott teaches in the Ministry Leadership Department at Calvin College and serves as an Associate Pastor at Mayflower Congregational Church in Grand Rapid, MI.

Her area of focus at Calvin has been in Youth Ministry and Young Adults. She graduated with a BS in Philosophy from Wheaton College (IL) and a M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary.

She is the recipient of the David H.C. Read Preacher/Scholar of the Year Award. She is ordained in the PC(USA) and has served most of her ministry alongside of her husband, Mark.  Lynn and Mark can typically be found at the side line of a sports event, cheering on their 3 children Brendan, Auden and Halley.
